There's a gourd sitting...I can't believe it either! There's a gourd sitting by my side now with yerba mate (con palo) in it. I love it, especially in this cold weather. I first discovered mate through a couple of friends, one from Argentina (as you do!) and the other one from Chile. They gave me some to sip from their gourds and I spat it out straight away. Too bitter, I said. Put some suger in it, they replied. I did and my compadres' eyes widened up as they saw me pour spoonful of sugar after spoonful of sugar. Nowadays I have it straight if I'm at work or sweeten it up a bit with honey if I'm home. Good for your girl!
