BOOK - ANNI MOON & THE ELEMENTAL ARTIFACT

Have your kids been reading this summer?  Do they complain there are never any good books to read?  If your kids are anything like mine, they always have their head in an electronic gadget. It is so frustrating how they are always using an iPad or iPhone. I know it's out own fault but it's a whole new world of technology.  However, my husband, who is "old school" is always trying to get our kids to read and I always tell him, the problem is that they can never find a great book they love.  Well, now I have found one for them!  It is Anni Moon & The Elemental Artifact,  a Fantasy Adventure for kids, probably best for middle-school aged children, by author, Melanie Abed.

It is a beautifully-written fantasy adventure book about Elementals, Funk, Zephyrs, excited talking Bat-Rat creatures, Dragons and a girl named, Anni.   When her best friend, Lexi is kidnapped, both she and her friend are pulled into the Elemental world where all this is normal. In a race against time, Anni must master this new world and save Lexi, all while knowing there’s no return to her old life. But saving her friend could cost Anni more than she’s bargained for.

Anni must uncover secrets and discover the unofficial truth behind an Elemental legend, while confronted by a dragon intent on testing her nerve and strength, not to mention an occasional monster and human generated Funk! Funk? Yes, Funk, the sticky, invisible slimy stuff that you humans cannot see!

Do your children loved stuffed animals? I know my little ones love them. Recently, my youngest daughter saw the commercial on TV for her new favorite stuffed animal/toy, a LullaPets and begged me for her own.  If you haven't seen the commercial on TV you are probably wondering, what in the world is a LullaPet?

MINECRAFT BOOKS

Do you have a child who is a fan of Minecraft?  Well, now there is whole new series of books, by Christopher Craft, that will get your kids even more excited about the ever-popular game:  First, we have, Minecraft: Diary of A Enderman's Apprentice Vol.1: (An Unofficial Minecraft Book) (Minecraft Books, Minecraft Handbook, Minecraft Comics, Minecraft Books for Kids, Minecraft Diary.)  It’s about an Enderslayer, called Ronan and the Enderslayers are like peaceful endermen  that help humans.

This is the real diary of an actual Enderman's Apprentice. The book allows you to take a peek at what is really going on when no one is watching.  Not only does Christopher Craft, manage to keep die-hard fans entertained, the amount of illustrations in this book (as well as the others) will please all Minecraft fans.   

Minecraft: Diary of A Enderman's Apprentice Vol.1 has many positive messages, like the storyline that destruction does not solve anything, and the path to peace is working together, protect the weak and help others when you are called upon.  All these great (positive) messages are a great incentive to buy the book.

Another of Craft's books, which is totally entertaining is Minecraft :: Diary of a Minecraft Iron Golem And His Pig Vol.1: (An Unofficial Minecraft Book) (Minecraft Books, Minecraft Handbook, Minecraft Comics, ... Diary) (Diary of a Iron Golem & His Pig)  {Kindle Edition}

Christopher Craft has taken the characters from the Minecraft game and made a fun and unique story to tell. In this particular book, you get to travel along with a Real Iron Golem and his Pet Pig! Kids will find this book hilarious.  These adventure will have your kids laughing so hard, they will want to read the whole series, of Craft's books.

The author does a great job of bringing an online game to life through these adventures, keeping young readers engaged with the story line and plenty of pictures. And he also makes a conscious effort through his writings to incorporate life lessons and tough decisions into the books. 

Any kid that loves Minecraft will love these books!

CHILDREN'S BOOK

DINOSAUR PARTY ADVENTURE

Dinosaur Party Adventure is a great children's e-book written by author Christina Johnson.  As the story goes along, the reader is given a choice of how they want the story to go, simply by "tapping" on the words given or going to the page indicated.

Dinosaur Party Adventure is the perfect children's book for children ages 5-8 years, who are generally in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade.  This e-book is great because not only is it very entertaining, but it is interactive as well.  Your child can choose their own adventure" book. What kid doesn't like to control how a story will end?
 
The stars of the book are Joe, the Elephant, Sam the Dog and Fred the Mouse.  The story is about three friends that are going to a Dinosaur Adventure party and they have a lot of fun along the way, even if they are not dinosaurs!

One of the reviews posted on Amazon reads:  "This book is a great way for a child  to learn both about the many types of dinosaurs as well as the meaning of friendship. As you read it with a child, you can help them speak about their own reactions to many life situations."

Personally, I thought this book was very creative and a lot of fun to read with my youngest son. I cannot wait to read it to my nephew who absolutely loves dinosaurs!

MY DAD'S GARAGE

Here is a great show for kids geared towards Dad's.  It is called "My Dad's Garage."  Upon reviewing their website, Twitter and Facebook page, I learned that this is a show of real value.  It teaches kids how to "do it yourself" when it comes to working on projects and using tools.  Most of the dad's involved actually work in garages.  "My Dad's Garage" is founded by and run by E.W. Tinker "Dad."

Basically, it teaches kids, (mainly ages 7-9 years,) how to use tools for kids, how to make robots, how to spend time with family, and how to value time spent with dad.
