APPRECIATING SUMMER

As Summer 2018 starts winding down, I am grateful to be able to spend days like this enjoying sunny South Florida. As a work at home mom with a side hustle, I have enjoyed that privilege for quite some time.

It has been 5 years since I left my last job in the "corporate world."  Honestly, I have not missed it one little bit! I have though, learned during this "time off," how to really appreciate my health, my days of leisure, my family and the privileges in my life, oh, and how to go after a "side hustle!"  It has also been five years since my brain surgery and I feel much more confident now. It was a very slow process of getting back to some sense of "normal" and having to deal with more migraines than before. However, I am now headed back to the "real" working-world again in August! New job, new industry, new goals!

Sometimes, life steers you in directions that you have to go in, to get you to where you ultimately want to be. So I am at the head of the wheel and setting my sail.

I will keep you posted on that new adventure but for now, I am blessed to spend my last days of summer and probably days off, in general, poolside chilling with my kid, surrounded by beautiful landscape.

"Those who are grateful have more blessings and fulfillment in life than those who are not...True gratitude is a quiet state of poise and inner calm where you're truly thankful, where you sense the divine order and wouldn't want anything to change."

MANDALA BECH TOWEL

I love the beach but sometimes, I feel it can get a little
messy with sand getting all over your stuff, especially when you are with small children or having a picnic. Recently, I found this beautiful round beach towel on the internet that I absolutely love! It is big and round and so colorful. There is a huge variety online but this one was one of my favorites.

It's a perfect beach or picnic blanket, big enough to accommodate two or three people. It has multiple uses including beach blanket, yoga mat, meditation blanket, baby blanket, throw for your bed, couch or chair, wall tapestry,
picnic blanket, table cloth.

It even makes a fun alternative to a beach wrap up. It is made of lightweight
cotton. It is both versatile and trendy. It’s a great buy for your guests at a
destination beach wedding!

There are plenty to choose from, this just happens to be one of my favorite!

This towel includes a free tote /travel bag : 18 x 11inches( with zip 100% cotton) and
sham/cushion cover : 17.5 X 11 inches (with zip . 100% cotton). Both pieces can
be used interchangeably as travel bag/tote/ pillow sham covers/cushion covers.
They each have a zip and are reversible prints (front and back same prints.)

Beach mat can be folded along with the sham cover and placed inside the tote
for storage. In the picture both the bags are used as cushion covers. You can
use them alternatively as tote/travel bag. The beach mat folds and can be
placed inside the tote along with the cushion cover.

DAY 4 - SUMMER CAMP AT HOME

So today was Day 4 at home, of not going to a "real" summer camp. I have to say, I am ready to jump out of a window! I cannot take the bickering one more day, nor the "I am so bored" comments anymore! These children have NO concept of what being bored really means.

I cannot wait to put them in real camp. I know that sounds horrible but they drove me crazy! Arts and craft and television just don't cut it. And it did not help that all the kids in the neighborhood are at camp and that we had rain all week.  Sure, there are a million ways to go out and have fun but for the most part it is always about money.

The only entertaining part of the day (actual evening) was when we took Mikey to tryouts for a new hockey team in a different city than where we live.

After tryouts they got to "free" skate a little bit and some air hockey. (That's fun to me!) Of course, for now, for this ONE week in their lives, I go down in history, as the "boringest mom-ever!"

I know that someday they will look back and say, "I remember when we spent all week with mom at home bored."  LOL!

Let's see what the last day of the week has in store for us...

DROP OFF AT MOVIES OR STAY?

So she is 11 years old and in middle school - do I drop her off at the movies and leave or do I stay and wait? I have already decided I am not going to see this particular movie with her but I am debating do I stay or do I go? Most parents drop off their kids and just leave.  I know, I'm a little neurotic!

But you see, as I am sitting here writing this, waiting outside the movie theater, she came running out to tell me she feels nauseous and if I could buy her some food! Do know my kid or what?

It's not so much that I don't trust my kid but I just know who I'm dealing with, so I just answered my own question as I'm writing this...I will stay and wait outside!

DAY 2 - SUMMER CAMP AT HOME (We Got Crafty)

DAY 1 - SUMMER CAMP AT HOME (TROPICAL LIFE ON THE CONCRETE)

So I made a very bold decision and opted not to send my children to camp this week. I thought it would be fun to do stuff the old-school way. Of course the first few hours of the day I was already pulling my hair out. The fighting,  the bickering, the "I'm bored" Comments every 10 minutes.

It is rough because all of their friends and neighbors are all at summer camp.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the afternoon when  they opted to make their own fun. If they couldn't go somewhere tropical they brought somewhere tropical to them!

Right here, on our driveway they made the best of it and had a great afternoon. My daughter was even lucky enough to have her best friend join her by late afternoon.

Here's to tropical life on the concrete!
